MY BACKGROUND

I’ve spent the past five years working closely with small business owners - helping them find clarity, build structure and create a calmer, more confident way of running their business.

Before starting my own business, I spent over 30 years with the John Lewis Partnership in a variety of leadership and operational roles. It’s where I learned the value of strong systems, clear communication and supporting people to do their best work.

Today, I bring the best of both worlds - decades of operational and leadership experience and five years of hands-on work with small businesses - into a simple, practical approach that works in the real world.

I work with small business owners across sectors - with a particular specialism in horticulture and landscaping - offering hands on support that makes a difference.

I’m not here to drown you in theory. I’m here to help you build clarity, make decisions and create steady, sustainable progress.

My specialism for working within the horticulture and landscaping sector is born out of my love for outdoor spaces - including the physical and mental health benefits it provides people. This passion has grown further by gaining valuable ‘on the tools’ experience and working with a number of business owners in the industry on their business.

WHY I DO THIS

Running a small business is one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever do. But it can also feel overwhelming, isolating and mentally exhausting.

Many of the people I work with are capable and experienced - but feel overwhelmed by the demands of running the business day-to-day.

I’ve seen talented, hard-working business owners struggle - not because they lack ability, but because everything depends on them, there’s no time to step back, and there’s no clear plan they really trust.

I created Steady Consulting to give people what I believe is missing for many small business owners: clear direction, practical support and a steady partner who understands the reality of day-to-day business life.

That’s what I’m here for.

“Working with Neil as my business coach was the best investment I've made. He provided incredible clarity and helped me develop effective client acquisition strategies and processes that actually work.”

MY APPROACH

My approach is simple, practical and built on real experience. It’s grounded in three things I believe every small business needs:

  • Clarity: Understanding where you are now, where you want to be and what matters to you most.

  • Structure: Clear priorities, simple actions and a plan you can follow with confidence.

  • Support: Encouragement, accountability and a partner who helps you stay on track.

Helping you move from reactive decision-making to a more structured and confident way of running your business.

But behind this simplicity sits a clear, proven structure.
